OTHER FUNDING
Generally speaking, ERCCT Research Fellows are supposed to provide their own funding.
Taiwanese Ph.D. students may apply for a Studying Abroad Scholarship by the taiwanese Ministry of Education. More detailed information about the program can be found on the Ministry's website FAQ section.
Another option for Ph.D. students and postdocs from Taiwan is to apply to the Chiang Ching Kuo-Foundation of International Scholarly Exchange for a 博士論文及博士後研究獎助. For information on the programme and contact address, please refer to the foundation's website.
European Ph.D. and postdoc students may apply for an ERCCT Fellowship. Those students who are not eligible for an ERCCT Fellowship or whose application was not accepted may apply for other grants offered by different German institutions, e.g. the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg: Baden-Württemberg Scholarship for Students or the University of Tuebingen's Hermann Hesse stipend. The ERCCT will assist all accepted Fellows to apply for those grants by providing information and guidance throughout the application procedure.
The DAAD has an online database that is very helpful when searching for a funding because it allows a specified search for those grants one is eligible to apply for.
A good option for the ERCCT Visiting as well as Permanent fellows is the DAAD's "Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and Scientists" programme.
Research Fellows who are willing to do their whole doctorate at the ERCCT can apply for a grant by the "Baden-Württemberg State Postgraduate Scholarship Programme" of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Arts Baden-Württemberg. The application procedure is managed by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. Anyone interested in applying, please contact the ERCCT Managing Director.
If no other funds are available, the ERCCT may chose to offer a minimum living monthly allowance of 350.- EUR per month, for a maximum period of two years.
MOFA - TAIWAN FELLOWSHIP 2019

The Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia-Pacific region and Chinese studies to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
1. Financial assistance
(1) Monthly grants are paid at the beginning of every month.
a. Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000.
b. Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT$50,000.
(2) One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (The subsidy will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations).
(3) The terms of fellowship are 3 to 12 months.
(4) Accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.
2. Eligibility
Recipients shall be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.

Postgraduate Research Grant for the Study of the TaiNan Region, 2018

This annual grant for Taiwanese and foreign postgraduate students is administered by the International Center for Tainan Area Humanities and Social Sciences and funded by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government.
5 M.A. students will be granted at NTD 50,000 and 2 Ph.D. at NTD 100,000.
The subject of their M.A. dissertation or Ph.D. thesis must relate to the Tainan area, fully or in comparison with other regions of Taiwan or any corner of Asia, in the field of humanities or social sciences.
The application deadline is May 31, 2018.
