Project: Bacteriophage–bacteria–fungi interactions in rhizosphere priming and soil organic carbon turnover

Although root exudates are recognized as key drivers of rhizosphere priming, the role of bacteriophage–bacteria interactions in regulating this process remains poorly understood. By combining synthetic bacterial communities (SynComs) with ¹³C isotope tracing, we aim to investigate how phage-mediated bacterial lysis and community dynamics influence the direction and magnitude of rhizosphere priming and the fate of root-exudate-derived carbon, thereby affecting soil organic carbon turnover.
