Block Course 2026: Chemical Sensors — Basics, Technology and Applications

02.03.2026–13.03.2026

This course, taught in English, provides a strong foundation for research in chemical gas sensors and their applications.

You will learn about different sensor types, including:

  • Electrochemical sensors (liquid and solid electrolytes)
  • Conductometric sensors (semiconducting metal oxides)
  • Calorimetric and gravimetric sensors

We will also cover sensor production, applications, and how to correctly evaluate data.

Prepare Online Before the Course Starts

To help you prepare, after the registration closes, you will get early access to:
✔️ Selection of pre-recorded video lectures and PDF materials
✔️ Detailed explanations of the experiments
✔️ Data sets and step-by-step evaluation guides

By the time the course starts, you will already have a good understanding of the content and what is expected of you.
Make sure to review all materials and complete the data evaluation by March 2, 2026, when the course begins.
The exact schedule will be shared by the end of February 2026. Access to the above mentioned materials will also end at this time.

On-Site Learning & Hands-On Training

✔️ Lectures from leading scientists and industry experts
✔️ Hands-on experiments in the lab
✔️ Data evaluation seminars, where you present and discuss your results

You can use any software for data analysis. Successfully evaluating the data is required to earn ECTS credits.
