Students can come to the HelpDesk of the English / American Studies department to discuss any questions concerning their studies. Typical issues would be the selection of courses, the exam regulations (Prüfungsordnung), the precise requirements for different modules, and the reading list for the Advanced Modules in the BA EAS and BEd. To discuss these or other questions, please come see us during our helpdesk hours (no appointment required) or contact us by e-mail. If you contact us by e-mail, please include your degree program. Our team members are all students themselves and speak German and English fluently.
Necmiye Görmüs - M.A. English Literatures and Cultures
Hiii I’m Necmiye (IPA /nedʒmije/). I’m studying English Literatures and Cultures in the MA program and majored in English and American Studies for my undergrad. As you can probably tell I love reading a lot and discovering new authors, new cultures and worlds through the world of books is one of my favourite things to do. I spend most of my free time playing with my cat, knitting, learning new languages, photography and visiting bookstores and libraries. If you have any questions I’m always there to help and figure out a solution so feel free to reach out anytime. :)
Hello! :) My name is Sirin, and I’m currently studying English and Philosophy/Ethics in the Bachelor of Education program. I joined the HelpDesk team in the winter semester 2025. I am studying to become a teacher one day. Therefore, I look forward to guiding, encouraging, and helping students grow. When I’m not at uni or working, I enjoy going to the gym, discovering new cafés and getting lost in a good book. I'm currently studying Interdisciplinary American Studies as a bachelor's student. Personally I love to read, and always enjoy hearing what kind of books other students are into, or currently reading. Same goes for films! I enjoy working at the HelpDesk as it's very satisfying to put someone's mind at ease and to support their academic journey.
