Students can only commence their studies in the B.Ed. English in the winter semester. The application deadline is  July 15.

The general admission requirements are:

• a good command of spoken and written English (CEFR B2)
• Latin or a second modern language (CEFR A2)
• enthusiasm for the English language and the literatures and cultures of the English-speaking world
• a special interest in the learning and teaching of the English language and Anglophone literatures and cultures

Admission into our study program is restricted (zulassungsbeschränkt). Criteria for being admitted include:

• the average grade of the high school diploma (Abiturzeugnis/ Hochschulzugangsberechtigung)
• other qualifications, e.g. professional experience relevant to the subject of studies of at least two years, an extended continuous stay or an internship of at least three months in an English-speaking country, an internationally acknowledged language certificate (e.g. TOEFL, Cambridge Certificate, IELTS) or a prize in the Bundeswettbewerb Fremdsprachen)

We offer 250 places in our study program per year. After the end of the application deadline, we set up a ranking of all incoming valid applications based on the admission criteria and the first 250 applicants in this ranking are offered a place in the program.

Applications are handled online and the process includes completing the obligatory self-evaluation questionnaire (Lehrerorientierungstest) for future teachers.
