Article on "A Newfound Hub of Global Democracy Promotion: Lithuania Playing to its Strengths"

One of our PhD candidates, Žilvinas Švedkauskas, has published a new article on "A Newfound Hub of Global Democracy Promotion: Lithuania Playing to its Strengths". Published by the Alternatives, the piece explores how the unfolding war in Ukraine has constituted a “democratic outpost” identity espoused by the Lithuanian political elite and asks how does a small Baltic state, shortly after its own democratic consolidation, rebrand itself as a staunch supporter of democracy in a global political climate characterised by “democratic fatigue”.

The contribution is part of a special issue, where he, together with colleagues from the Baltic and Visegrad countries, reflects how the war in Ukraine (re)forms geopolitical positionalities in Central Eastern Europe.
