Kurzportrait (Englisch)

Professor Kyungmee Park is a professor in the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Jeonbuk National University, South Korea. She graduated from Ewha Womans University. Her Ph.D. dissertation is “Continuities and Changes of Party Organizations in South Korea: Comparison of Organizational Changes of the Democratic Justice Party and the Party for Peace and Democracy”.

Her current main interest is how political institutions make and affect the behavior and preferences of the people and politicians. This is because she thinks that political institutions are important in the political realm. Political institutions shape and change individual interests, while simultaneously frustrating the people and politicians who want to get those interests. Sometimes, they try to change the political institutions. So, it is more interested in when and why political institutions change.

Her research interests include party politics, legislative politics, electoral politics, and Korean politics. She teaches the Introduction to Korean Politics, Party Politics, Studies on Electoral Systems, Studies on the Civic Discourses, Assembly Politics and Decision Making Processes at the undergraduate level, while she opens Seminar on Party Politics, Seminars on Political Institutions, and Studies on Korean Politics at the graduate level.
