Financial Institutions

That is the Chair of Financial Institutions

The Chair of Financial Institutions is nationally and internationally recognized for its strong research performance and excellent network. Our research projects generate new insights, strengthen foundational knowledge, and are supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and other external funding agencies. Researchers, students, and practitioners all benefit from this work.

Our research

Research at the Chair of Financial Institutions is results- and practice-oriented. Our research generates new insights into the structure and behavior of financial markets. In doing so, it enriches and inspires other researchers and provides regulatory authorities, banks, investment companies, and institutional investors with support in their daily decision-making.

Our research findings are published in international academic journals, research volumes, and edited collections, as well as in high-quality popular media. Regular academic conferences, research seminars, workshops, and executive education programs round out the Chair’s engagement with the academic and professional communities.

Our teaching

Those who study successfully at the Chair of Financial Institutions gain a deep understanding of the key aspects of financial markets. With us, students learn to analyze, recognize, decode, and inquire further — in short, to conduct their own research. This is the core of our teaching: we convey knowledge and skills through engaging lectures, seminars, and exercises, using innovative teaching and learning formats. Case studies, simulations, and company projects are an integral part of our approach — as is the active engagement of our students.
