Research

“Over the past fifteen years, I have been involved in multiple research projects in the Arabian Peninsulas, the Levant and Europe. I have conducted field work in regions that are still little explored but are very important to Quaternary human studies and for the cluster. My research into hunter-gatherer archaeology brings together a range of innovative multidisciplinary methods, including a macro/landscape-based approach to fieldwork and a micro/functional approach to studying material culture. In the past I have successfully led three major research projects directly focussing on the last 300.000 years period throughout Arabia to elucidate human-environmental interactions, Human evolution and resource exploitation based on fieldwork and the holistic study of archaeological remains. By analysing changes in archaeological material culture, I strive to bring new understanding to specific human adaptations to desert environments and how both shaped and drove human resilience and adaptive capabilities throughout the Quaternary.”
