Gemeinsam mit meiner Arbeitsgruppe, bestehend aus Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern des Arbeitsbereichs (AB) Angewandte Kognitionspsychologie am Fachbereich Psychologie der Uni und der Arbeitsgruppe (AG) Wahrnehmung und Handlung am Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM), beschäftige ich mich mit den Prozessen der Wahrnehmung und Handelns in digitalen Umgebungen. Wir verfolgen einen wahrnehmungsorientierten Ansatz zur digitalen Mediennutzung und untersuchen die Effekte auf das menschliche Handeln.

Der Forschungsschwerpunkt Multikodale Wahrnehmung beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie medienvermittelte Inhalte (z.B. Texte, Bilder, Comics, Videos) wahrgenommen und mental organisiert werden. Der Forschungsschwerpunkt Wahrnehmung und Interaktion in sozialen Netzwerken beschäftigt sich mit dem Zusammenspiel von Einstellungen, Wissen und Metakognition bei der Rezeption von Informationen und der Interaktion mit anderen (z.B. in Online-Foren). Der Forschungsschwerpunkt Wahrnehmen und Handeln mit digitalen Agenten befasst sich mit dem Informationsaustausch zwischen Menschen und Technologien der künstlichen Intelligenz (z.B. Algorithmen, Sprachassistenten, Roboter). Flankiert wird dieses Spektrum der untersuchten Interaktionsformen durch den Forschungsschwerpunkt Risikowahrnehmung von künstlicher Intelligenz, in dem Chancen und Risiken emergenter digitaler Technologien thematisiert werden.

In einem weiteren Forschungsschwerpunk beschäftigen wir uns mit metawissenschaftlichen Fragen. Wir untersuchen dabei unter anderem die Wirksamkeit Policies auf den Forschungsprozess. In Bezug auf Forschungsdaten-Policies konnten wir zeigen, dass diese bisher nicht zu den intendierten Effekten geführt haben.


Markus Huff ist seit 2020 W3-Professor für Angewandte Kognitionspsychologie und Leiter des AB Angewandte Kognitionspsychologie an der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. Er ist seit 2020 außerdem Leiter der AG Wahrnehmung und Handlung am Leibniz Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM).

Markus Huff studierte Psychologie, Mathematik und Informatik an der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. Nach seinem Abschluss als Diplom-Psychologe promovierte er (Dr. rer. nat.) am IWM und der Universität Tübingen mit einer Arbeit zum verbalen Einfluss auf das visuelle Gedächtnis. Markus Huffs Promotion wurde 2007 mit dem Leibniz-Nachwuchspreis der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft ausgezeichnet. Nach Tätigkeiten als Postdoktorand am IWM, der Universität Tübingen und der Washington University in St. Louis, USA, war er als Juniorprofessor für Allgemeine Psychologie an der Universität Tübingen tätig. Danach leitete er die Abteilung für Forschungsinfrastrukturen am Deutschen Institut für Erwachsenenbildung – Leibniz-Zentrum für Lebenslanges Lernen e.V. (DIE) in Bonn.
