Hi everyone! I'm Magdaléna (better known as Maja) and I am a PhD student in LS Griffiths, looking at the syntax of non-canonical questions in Czech. I am affiliated with project B5 in SFB 1718 "Common Ground".

I started my academic journey by doing a BA in Modern Languages with Translation at the University of Leicester, UK. There, I discovered my passion for linguistics and went on to complete the MA English Linguistics programme here in Tübingen. I started my PhD in the spring of 2026, so more updates on this will be coming soon.

Apart from being a PhD student, I am also a certified Mental Health First Aider. While I can't provide professional advice or counselling, I am happy to listen to your mental health-related concerns and help you find any resources you might need.

If I'm not learning/talking/dreaming about syntax, you can probably find me hiking, travelling around, learning German or playing board games. Once a year, I volunteer as a Marking Coordinator for the United Kingdom Linguistics Olympiad (UKLO), a linguistic competition for British high-schoolers.
