Text and Idea of Aristotle's Science of Living Things (TIDA)

Klaus Corcilius is the principal investigator of TIDA.

He joined the department of philosophy at the Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, in 2016 as a professor of ancient philosophy. Prior to that he was an associate professor of philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley (2011-2016), a junior professor of ancient philosophy at the University of Hamburg (2009-2011), and a “Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter” of philosophy at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2005-2009).

Within TIDA his research is dedicated to Aristotle’s science of living beings, where he investigates the philosopher’s account of mental phenomena and the division of explanatory labor between the De anima, the so-called biological works, and the Parva naturalia. He has a special interest in theories of cognition and knowledge (also in Plato), and scientific methodology.
