Project description:
The project consists in the design and implementation of a pilot European training school addressing the need for qualified professionals in the field of common spaces. By combining immersive learning in sustainable spaces with higher education qualification standards, learners in the programme engage with socio-ecological best practices. In addition to further qualification, the transnational learning community will foster cross-border collaboration and support the lead team in identifying key challenges and competences needed by future experts in the field of common spaces.

Press Releases

February 2026
In 2018, Yes We Camp and Ancoats launched the University Diploma “Espaces Communs” in collaboration with Université Gustave Eiffel. Nearly 200 professionals have already benefited from this comprehensive and immersive one-year programme.
Its objective is to transmit and further develop the skills required to create and manage open, productive, cultural, innovative, and community-oriented spaces, both in urban and rural contexts.
Over the 2026–2027 period, the project CLASS – Collective Learning Around Sustainable Spaces will support the development and testing of the “Espaces Communs” programme in Germany and Portugal. This initiative is based on a European co-construction approach, bringing together practitioners and higher education institutions. The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, which promotes pedagogical innovation, transnational cooperation, and the recognition of skills at the European level.
With the support of Yes We Camp and Ancoats—who contribute their expertise in pedagogical design and practice-based training—the University of Tübingen (Germany) and the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon (Portugal) will each implement a 70-hour pilot programme tailored to their national contexts. These programmes will build on their respective strengths in social sciences, architecture, and urban planning, and will combine academic teaching, on-site immersions, collaborative project work, and European exchanges.
Université Gustave Eiffel will be responsible for the project’s evaluation, with the aim of analysing the outcomes of these experiments and laying the groundwork for the sustainable and recognised deployment of the programme at the European level.
