Dr. Michael Finkel (born in 1965) completed his study in civil engineering at the University of Stuttgart in 1990. Following the completion of his study he worked for several years as a consultant dealing with problems of groundwater management and protection. Since 1994 he is employed at the Department for Applied Geology in the Geological Institute of the University of Tübingen. In 1998 he gained his Ph.D. ("Quantitative description of the transport of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and surfactants in porous media"). Since then he was engaged in manifold national and international research projects with a focus on groundwater modelling and remediation design optimization, brownfields development, and risk assessment. Currently he is involved in the Collaborative Research Center CAMPOS.
