My project expands on work I have previously done on the Charters of the Abbey of Fulda. I am working with these charters (up to the death of Louis the Child in 911 CE) to see what they might tell us about the movement of Carolingian magnates and their families during the period of Carolingian expansion eastwards. While in Tübingen, I hope to begin comparing the information in the Fulda charters with the information in the charters of some other monasteries east of the Rhein. Because of projects at Tübingen like “Nomen und Gens”, I will be able to consult with experts in both databases and in Carolingian prosopography, both of which are key to my studies.
