Applications are open for the CAPES/DAAD - Probral Program

Brazil-Germany (CAPES-DAAD) - Call for joint research projects within the Probal programme, including sandwich-PhD and postdoc scholarships

 

Applications are open for the CAPES/DAAD - Probral Program call, a cooperation between CAPES and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). CAPES will invest in 30 joint projects of higher education institutions in Brazil and Germany. 

The PROBRAL programme supports joint research projects developed by Brazilian and German groups linked to Higher Education and/or Research Institutions. The program is a result of the partnership between CAPES and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Objectives
To support and foster scientific exchange between Brazilian and German research groups. It foresees the concession of resources for the realization of work missions and purchase of consumable material for the projects, as well as the financing of scholarships for sandwich doctorate and post-doctorate in Germany.

Modalities of support:

  • Scholarships - Consists of the displacement of students abroad in order to develop academic and research activities in the area of interest of the project. It can be of two types:
    • Doctoral-Sandwich: duration of 6 (six) to 10 (ten) months;
    • Post-Doctorate: duration of 3 (three) to 10 (ten) months

It offers a) Installation allowance, b) Displacement assistance, and c) Health insurance

Expected duration of 2 (two) years, which can be renewed for up to 2 more years, according to the evaluation criteria of the funding agencies.

  • Work missions -  The work mission of the Brazilian team is equivalent to a short-term trip to Germany by one of the members of the Brazilian team, with a doctoral degree and with a permanent employment relationship with the institution. 

It offers a) International per diems, b) Health insurance, and c) Travel allowances

How to apply

Applications are admitted exclusively through the Internet by filling out the application form and sending electronic documents, within the deadlines established in the calendar.

Joint project proposals must be submitted simultaneously in Brazil and Germany. In Brazil, applications are made to Capes by the Brazilian coordinator. In Germany, applications will be made to the DAAD, by the applicant German coordinator. Proposals that are submitted to only one of the agencies will be rejected.
