The interview with Dr. Rolf Frankenberger in the daily newspaper *taz* took place in the run-up to the EU and local elections on June 9, 2024. The conversation covers the breadth of the far-right scene, the intellectualization of the New Right, the AfD’s populism as portrayed in the media, and assessments of the situation at the European level—as well as the research conducted by the Institute for the Study of Right-Wing Extremism.
“The New Right is good at updating old ideas,” says Rolf Frankenberger, director of the Institute for Research on Right-Wing Extremism at the University of Tübingen.
