Photon-pressure systems

Similar to microwave optomechanics, it is possible to use high-frequency LC circuit with an embedded SQUID to detect and control currents and magnetic fields in nearby low-frequency resonant circuits with quantum-limited precision. The interaction between the two circuits in these devices - in analogy to the radiation-pressure coupling in optomechanics - is called photon-pressure and has been demonstarted to allow for example for sideband-cooling of one electrical LC circuit with another. Here in the group we are investigating novel regimes of this photon-pressure coupling, we are targeting quantum control and quantum-limited sensing of radio-frequency photons in the MHz regime and want to engineer quantum-limited devices for microwave signal processing using such photon-pressure platforms.
