Dear students, doctoral researchers, and colleagues,
How do we move from individuals to aggregates—and what allows us to return from aggregate knowledge to an individual case?
Applications are now open for the interdisciplinary Studienkolleg 2026/27:
“The Individual and the Aggregate.” We warmly invite students and doctoral researchers from all disciplines to apply.
Together, we will explore how different fields - including your own - move between individuals and aggregates. What counts as an aggregate in your discipline? How do collective patterns emerge? And what can aggregate knowledge tell us about a particular case?
Over two semesters, the Studienkolleg combines talks and seminars with collaborative research projects developed in small interdisciplinary teams.
The Studienkolleg offers a unique opportunity to step outside the usual academic routines. There are no exams or grades. Instead, we come together to develop our own ideas, pursue questions across disciplinary boundaries, and learn from one another.
*October 2026 until July 2027 - 12 ECTS - €250 per semester
*Application deadline: 4 October 2026
