The M.A. program "Islamwissenschaft / Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies" at the University of Tübingen requires an appropriate Bachelor's degree in the same discipline ("konsekutiver Studiengang") with an overall grade of 2.5 or higher. Whether entry with a Bachelor's degree in a similar program is possible will be evaluated by a commission case-by-case and may be accepted through recognition of equivalence ("Äquivalenzanerkennung"). Criteria include methods and approaches from the Humanities as well as survey courses in History and Civilisations of the Middle East. Additionally, it is required that you provide proof of sufficient knowledge of our main source language Arabic, at a reading level of B2 or higher or the equivalency of 20 contact hours of academic language training.
Applications are reviewed thoroughly by the faculty to ensure prospective students' adequate familiarity with our core curriculum.
