Nils ist Postdoc im STACY Projekt und PI des NFDI4Earth Pilot Propagating complex uncertainties in data cubes. Nach dem Studium der Mathematik und Geographie promovierte er in Meteorologie an der Universität Bonn. Das Thema seiner Arbeit war die Rekonstruktion von Klimafeldern aus Vegetationsproxies mit Bayes'schen hierarchischen Modellen. 2019 kam er in die STACY Gruppe um an statistischen Analysen von Paläoklima-Proxies und Modell-Daten-Vergleichen zu arbeiten. Die Ziele seiner Forschung sind die Verbesserung unseres Verständnisses der Klimavariabilität und die Ableitung von statistischen Beziehungen aus dem vergangenen Klima zur Verbesserung von zukünftigen Projektionen des Erdsystems.
