Dr. Michael Finkel (born in 1965) completed his study in civil engineering at the University of Stuttgart in 1990. Following the completion of his study he worked for several years as a consultant dealing with problems of groundwater management and protection. Since 1994 he is employed at the University of Tübingen (Department for Applied Geology, now: Center for Applied Geoscience). In 1998 he gained his PhD ("Quantitative description of the transport of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and surfactants in porous media"). Since then he was engaged in diverse national and international research projects on groundwater modelling, remediation design optimization, brownfields development, risk assessment, water resources management, and contaminant leaching. Furthermore, he is part of the intramural network for research data management and the national consortium for research data infrastructure in earth system sciences (NFDI4Earth).
