Abstract :
Stars form over large regions of arbitrary geometry along filaments and clumps. I will review some recent models and observations that motivate a simplified approach to the dynamics of these regions and in particular the internal dynamics of their sub-structures. I will argue that many of the observed characteristics of the stellar populations observed must be set in the very late stages of the formation epoch. I will offer some prospects for multiple-stars based on results from an on-going PhD project.
