Further Information
Our mission is that students have the possibility to perform an applied empirical analysis for an interesting topic, solving real-life problems of data analysis. We are in contact with earlier students, and they confirm that this is a highly relevant skill for their later career (in many different fields). Basic data sets are provided by us, but can be expanded by the students if they want. Under the continuous supervision, students may meet their supervisor 4-5 times during the thesis-writing period. Moreover, students should prepare a short presentation (10-15 minutes).

Der Lehrstuhl für Financial Accounting und Financial Analysis betreut im Winter- und Sommersemester Masterarbeiten. Die Bewerbung erfolgt zentral über das Survey des Fachbereichs. Die Zusage erhalten die Studierenden vom Lehrstuhl. Die Bearbeitungszeit beginnt nach Absprache mit dem Lehrstuhl, zeitgleich erfolgt die Anmeldung der Masterarbeit beim Prüfungsamt.

Im Rahmen eines Forschungskolloquiums wird das Thema sowie die Herangehensweise an die Fragestellung präsentiert.

Dates
Students must register their thesis with the examinations office within the semester for which they have been accepted. Hence, for the summer term, the registration needs to be completed between April 1 and September 30 and for the winter term, between October 1 and March 31. Prior to the official registration, the topic and a first outline will be discussed with the allocated supervisor.

Further Information
All students writing a thesis have to present their current state of research at the chair's research colloquium (at roundabout 2 months before the final submission). Students that have not participated in a master seminar at the Department of Managerial Accounting yet are strongly advised to take part in a course on scientific writing offered by the department in each winter and summer term.

The primary goal of the MSc thesis is to expose students to the latest developments and methodologies in macroeconomics, with a particular focus on real-world applications and policy implications that address emerging global economic challenges. Participants are expected to select a specific academic paper on current macroeconomic realities, such as the economic impact of climate change, shifts in monetary or fiscal policy, or responses to geopolitical uncertainty.
