Poonam Kamath ist Doktorandin an der Universität Tübingen, Deutschland, mit Dr. Karin Polit als ihre Betreuerin. Sie hat Medical Anthropology (MA) an der Universität Heidelberg studiert und ihre Masterarbeit zum Thema psychische Gesundheit und zeitgenössische Nosologie im urbanen und klinischen Raum in Mumbai verfasst. Seit 2017, hat sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an an zwei Projekten gearbeitet: WunschKinder - Unterschiede in der Bedeutung des Begriffs für deutsche und für indische Frauen (finanziell gefördert vom DFG, der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft) und '"Home Away from Home": Cultural Capital of the Indian Diaspora in Germany' (die Heimat außerhalb der Heimat: Kulturelles Kapital der indischen Diaspora in Deutschland). Letzteres is ein kollaboratives Projekt der Universitäten Bonn und Heidelberg und der indischen Botschaft/dem indischen Konsulat. Vor ihrem Master in Deutschland studierte sie Chemie (B.Sc.) an der Universität Mumbai, Indien, und Biotechnologie (M.Sc.) an der Universität Bangalore, Indien.
SCHWERPUNKT:
Ihre laufende Forschung für die Doktorarbeit an der Universität Tübingen fokussiert sich auf Kinderwunsch und Feminismus in Deutschland. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen digitale Ethnologie, psychische Gesundheit, STS, Feminismus und die Gesundheit der Frau.
