Born 12.08.1957 in Lahr/Black Forest
1976-1982	Studied Greek and Latin Philology as well as Music in Tübingen and Munich
1981	Completed first state examination for high school teaching (Greek, Latin) in Tübingen
1982	Completed Master's examination (Magister Klassische Philologie, Classical Philology) in Tübingen
1985	Doctorate at the University of Munich
1982 - 1992	Full-time assistant and research associate at the Institute for Classical Philology of Munich University
1992 - 1994	Postdoctoral scholarship of the German Research Foundation
1994	Habilitation at the University of Munich
1994 - 1997	Professorship (Latin Studies, C4) at the University of Rostock
1997 - 2004	Professorship (Latin Studies) at the Philipps-University of Marburg
Since 2004	Professorship (Latin Studies) at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen
Married; three children

Research Focus

Classical latin literature, particularly Cicero, Philosophy in Rome, latin metrics, history of reception of latin language and culture in Europe, particularly latin as world language and scientific language from the ancient world until today; new latin literature
