I am Sami Mujahed from Palestine, one of the SAGE Centre students at Tübingen University. My project is funded by DAAD, in fact I am using the West Bank as a case study for testing effectiveness and affordability of methods for green rooftops.
Namely, we apply wicking beds with different cultures to test whether wild plants on the rooftops enhance pollination services and thus increase insect biodiversity and the yield of vegetated roofs at the same time.
Such win-win strategies could help in increasing the acceptance for green roofs even in areas where biodiversity conservation may not be of the highest priority.
