ORA Organic Residue Analysis Laboratory

The Laboratory for Organic Residue Analysis (ORA) specializes in the extraction and characterization of organic and biological molecules recovered from archaeological contexts. Some analyses carried out are, for example, the identification of biomarkers on vessels to identify its content and function, or the analysis of bone-dental tissues to characterize lipid biomolecules in human individuals. The laboratory also develops experimental analyses to understand taphonomic processes and identify new biomarkers.

LIBRE Laboratory for Isotopic and Bioarchaeological Research

The Laboratory for Isotopic and Bioarchaeological Research (LIBRE) focuses on the study of human and faunal bone and dental remains, in the context of research into ancient diet, mobility, environmental reconstruction, osteopaleopathology and osteological identification of individuals from archaeological contexts. The laboratory has equipment for the pre-treatment of bone and dental remains for isotopic analyses of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and strontium.
