Ya-Feng Mon holds a doctorate from Goldsmiths, University of London, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the International Institute for Cultural Studies, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Her monograph Film Production and Consumption in Contemporary Taiwan: Cinema as a Sensory Circuit was published in 2016 by Amsterdam University Press. Adopting a biopolitical approach to the culture industry, the book delves into the realms of sensations, feelings, impulses and intuition in order to uncover the sensory aspects of the power dynamics between the film industry and its audience. Ya-Feng’s recent research interests lie in various embodied experiences of artefacts/technologies, with special focuses on the moving image and handheld devices.
