PhD Position in Quantum Information Theory or Quantum Optics

The Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University Tübingen is looking to fill aPhD Position in Quantum Information Theory or Quantum Optics
(50% of an E13 TV-L position funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg).  The position will be offered for three years and will have as topic theoretical research in quantum algorithms or quantum optics.
The successful candidate will work in the group of Prof. Daniel Braun at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University Tübingen, Germany.  We are a very active and internationally visible and connected research group with broad research activities in quantum metrology, quantum information theory, and quantum optics.  We value open discussions, eagerness to learn, and creative thinking, driven by a quest for deep understanding.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with excellent analytical and programming skills and a sound working knowledge in quantum mechanics.  The ideal candidate has previous working experience in quantum algorithms or cold atom physics. Formal hiring requirement is a master degree in physics or an equivalent degree.

Post-doc position

The Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University Tübingen  is looking to fill

A post-doc position in Quantum Information Theory

(E13 TV-L position).  The position will be offered for 12 months with an option of extension for 24 more months depending on funding and will have as topic the development of novel quantum algorithms, in the framework of a project funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg.  One of the latest and most powerful quantum computers from IBM will be available for implementing and testing the theoretical ideas.


We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a background in quantum information theory.  The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in quantum algorithms and/or quantum tomography.
