Post-doc position

The Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University Tübingen  is looking to fill

A post-doc position in Quantum Information Theory

(E13 TV-L position).  The position will be offered for 24 months and will have as topic the development of novel quantum algorithms, in the framework of a project funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg.  One of the latest and most powerful quantum computers from IBM will be available for implementing and testing the theoretical ideas.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a background in quantum information theory.  The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in quantum algorithms and/or quantum tomography.

University Tübingen is one of the Excellence Universities in Germany.  It is home to a vibrant research community with very strong research activity in the quantum sciences.

We support an open research culture, where original thinking and academic merit are encouraged and nurtured and encourage applications from all backgrounds and genders.

Interested candidates are asked to send a CV (including a list of publications) and a transcript of academic records to daniel.braunspam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de, and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address.  Disabled persons will be preferred in case of equal qualifications.  The University Tübingen seeks to raise the number of women in research and therefore urges qualified women to apply.

Application deadline is February 28, 2021.

PhD Positions

The Institutes for Theoretical Physics at the University Tübingen, the Institute for Complex Quantum Systems, and the Institute for Quantum Optics at Ulm University, are looking to fill

Three PhD Positions in Quantum Metrology (m,f,d),

two of them theoretical and one experimental (up to 66% of E13 TV-L positions) in the groups of Profs. Braun (Tübingen, theory), Ankerhold (Ulm, theory), and Jelezko (Ulm, experiment), respectively.  The positions will be offered for 36 months and will have as topic theoretical investigations and experiments in quantum metrology based on NV centers.  The project is part of the newly established Competence Network for Quantum Technology BW funded by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with excellent analytical skills and a strong working knowledge in quantum mechanics.  The ideal candidate for the theory positions will have in addition previous working experience in solid state systems or quantum metrology.

University Tübingen is one of the Excellence Universities in Germany.  It is home to a vibrant research community with very strong research activity in the quantum sciences.  Ulm University provides with the Center for Integrated Quantum Science & Technology IQST (together with U Stuttgart and the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research) an internationally competitive research environment for quantum science with strong ties across disciplines.

We support an open research culture, where original thinking and academic merit are encouraged and nurtured, and encourage applications from all nationalities, backgrounds, and genders.
