Mineral Separation (Kopie 1)

  • Our working group hosts a fully equipped mineral separation lab doing routine and  efficient separation of various minerals (e.g. apatite, zircon, quartz) from rocks and sediments
  • Liberation of minerals from rocks is done with a Selfrag instrument or various sizes of jaw crushers
  • Concentration of target minerals is done through various separation steps, based on grains size, gravity and magnetic susceptibility
  • For this we do have various lab equipment such as Wilfley table, Frantz magnetic separator and different heavy liquids
  • Hand picking of grains is possible with various binocular microscopes
