Student Association for Oriental and Islamic Studies

As the Student Association for Oriental and Islamic Studies, we support and represent the interests of our fellow students. We represent students enrolled in the Bachelor's program Languages, History, and Cultures of the Middle East (SGKNO) and the Master's program Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies / Islamic Studies.

Bouchera Hamadouche and Samira Durmus are currently coordinating the Student Association. All students in the department are warmly invited to get involved, actively contribute to our work, and attend our meetings at any time. Thanks to the small size of our student group, everyone has the opportunity to participate, share ideas, and make a real impact!

What We Do:

Serving as a point of contact for any questions about your studies
Acting as a bridge between students, professors, and staff
Representing student interests in various university bodies (Fachschaftenvollversammlung, AOI-Fachschaft)
Sharing information about extracurricular lectures, seminars, and other academic opportunities
Organising guest lectures, workshops, and exchange opportunities
Planning and hosting events (e.g. Winter Fest and Summer Fest)
