Gastvortrag: The EU and Cyprus: Reflecting on the Turkish-Cypriot Experience

Erol Kaymak is Professor of International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University and served nine years as the IR Department’s Chair. He has published many articles on Cyprus and problems of nationalism as well as research reports for the United Nations in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the Centre for European Studies (CEPs) in Brussels, Interpeace, and other organizations.  Kaymak is a co-founder and former director of a Cyprus-based think tank, the Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development (SeeD). Alongside research and academia, he straddles politics and public diplomacy. As such, he is Coordinator for the Cyprus Chapter of the Greek-Turkish Forum, which aims to contribute to furthering bilateral relations between Greece and Turkey.  He is a founding member of the People’s Party (Halkın Partisi) in north Cyprus and sits on the party assembly.
