I am interested in the MSc CIB program and I would like to do my master in the area of plant sciences. How much animal cell biology or human immunology would I have to study as part of the MSc CIB program?
In the first semester, students will learn fundamental biosciences. This includes cell biology and immunology of plants, animals, and humans. The courses of the following semesters you can choose according to your interests. Many labs associated with the MSc CIB are researching cellular processes in plant models.

I am really interested in studying and understanding fundamental cellular process. Would the MSc CIB be the right Master’s program for me?
Most labs associated with the MSc CIB focus on revealing fundamental molecular mechanisms that regulate specific cellular processes / behaviour.
Can I apply even though I have (almost) no background in immunology?
Most courses expect some basic level in immunology (from BSc studies). Students with no or almost no background are expected to acquire independently this knowledge. On the one hand, this can be done through self-study. On the other hand, students can enrol for basic immunology courses like “Einführung in die Immunologie” (for German speakers) or “Principles in Innate and Adaptive Immunology”.
