The Faculty of Humanities (and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences) offer[s] several graduate level master programmes which are taught in English:

Thanks to the close cooperation of the disciplines belonging to these faculties, these programmes are based on a wide choice of courses.

• The Eberhard Karls University Tübingen offers a well-grounded academic training closely enlaced with research and practical experience in an interdisciplinary and international environment.
• Thanks to the cooperation of several disciplines of the Humanities, Cultural and Social Sciences on the web platform „English Teaching in the Humanities, Cultural and Social Sciences“, students have the possibility to choose from a wide range of courses taught in English.

• The close-knit interdisciplinary network among the disciplines of the Humanities, Cultural and Social Sciences, as well as their interdisciplinary connections to the natural sciences offer students many opportunities to look over the rim of their own discipline. Examples for an interdisciplinary cooperation are the Collaborative Research Centres „Threatened Orders – Societies under Stress“ (SFB 923), ResourceCultures (SFB1070) and „The Construction of Meaning – the Dynamics and Adaptivity of Linguistic Structures“ (SFB 833).
• Moreover, the Humanities, Cultural and Social Sciences at the Eberhard Karls University are closely linked to the international academic community. The departments of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences maintain contacts to universities all over the world. Some departments have international branches, such as the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT), the Tübingen Center for Korean Studies at Korea University (TUCKU) and the Tübingen Center for Japanese Studies. In Tübingen, there are more than 3000 international students, and many guest lecturers and researchers from all over the world teach and work here.
• At the Eberhard Karls University, students are encouraged to take part in research projects as early as possible. From the bachelor level to postdoc programs, academic training at the University of Tübingen is characterized by the close links between teaching and research. This promotes a deeper understanding of the material while encouraging students to share their knowledge and ideas.
• As a counterbalance to all the mental work, the University offers extensive recreational, cultural and sports activities to its students.
• The University of Tübingen offers excellent study conditions with its outstandingly well-equipped libraries (the central University Library and the several subject-specific department libraries) and with its service facilities like the IT Centre with its Genius-Bar.
• Academic life at the Eberhard Karls University takes place against the most picturesque backdrop of the medieval town of Tübingen. Tübingen has about 86 000 inhabitants of whom about 28 500 are students. Around 12% of them are international students. This renders Tübingen a young, internationally oriented town with a diverse cultural life. Tübingen is located at the edge of the natural preserve Schönbuch between the low mountain range of the Schwäbische Alb (Swabian Jura) and the Black Forest which makes it a good starting point for excursions into nature.
• Those who study in Tübingen, study at one of the oldest universities in Europe. The Eberhard Karls University Tübingen was founded in 1477 by Count Eberhard the Bearded. Since then, it has attracted and nurtured many extraordinary minds, who have crucially moulded European intellectual and scientific history. These include Melanchthon, Kepler, Hegel, Hölderlin and Schelling.
