Who We Are

Meet the Tutors

Elizabeth Felix Gerald Jane is from the sprightly, culturally diverse coastal city of Chennai, located in South India. A curious bookworm who would never stop wondering about the big and the small, the bright and chaotic in the stories she encountered in books and real life, Elizabeth decided to follow her passion and pursue her BA English Literature at Stella Maris College - a small yet robust institution whose corridors witnessed the power of 6000 women. Being an active participant in college activities, she donned quite a few hats such as the Secretary of the Dramatics Club, Editor of the College Campus Ministry Magazine, Emcee for College Fests and certified Samosa and Egg Puff addict. Her musings with interesting German Men like Nietzsche, Schaupenhauer and Karl Marx in her Critical Theory lectures propelled her to apply for the MA English Literatures and Cultures programme at the University of Tübingen. Her interests include Critical Theory, Postcolonial Studies, Gender Studies and Film Theory.
Apart from Studies, Elizabeth loves theatre and has scripted and acted in a few plays. She also writes poetry on Instagram. In her free time, she likes experimenting with food, reading (and re-reading) her favourite novels, and traveling solo or with friends.

Fabian Güvenc was born and raised in Villingen-Schwenningen. He completed a traineeship as as an industrial clerk with the additional qualification in international economical management in 2020, and started his B.A. in Interdisciplinary American Studies in the wintersemester 2020/2021. His interests cover many areas (as does his major); therefore, he went from organizing anti-racism roundtables and helping with department events to starting out as a tutor in the Research and Writing Center. He recently completed his year abroad at Tufts University in Boston, MA and furthered his studies, especially in the context of International Law and Criminal Justice. His stay abroad also enkindled his passion for cheerleading and his subsequent participation in the NCA Cheer Nationals 2023. If he has time for anything other than cheerleading or preparing his law school application, Fabi enjoys meeting up with his friends, reading a good book, exercising, cooking, and deepening his foreign language skills.

Ellie Wegener spent most of her childhood in Kansas City, USA, but spent a few years living in Brisbane, Australia. This early exposure to other cultures has given her a lifelong passion for learning new languages and travelling. In 2022 she completed her bachelor’s degree in German and International Economics at Valparaiso University in Indiana, USA, spending one study abroad semester in Cambridge and one in Tübingen. Ellie then spent one year teaching English at a school near Dresden and is currently completing her MA in Literary and Cultural Theory at Tübingen. She looks forward to doctoral work in Tübingen once this degree is complete! Ellie's favorite activities include arts and crafts, learning languages, and discussing philosophy and literature over coffee.

Julia Klumbach grew up in rural Baden-Württemberg where she completed her Abitur in 2017. After that she moved to Tübingen to pursue a Bachelor of Education in English, Math, and History. In order to fulfill not only her passion for teaching but also for films and novels, she is now doing a Master of Arts in American Studies alongside her Master of Education in Tübingen. In the course of her studies, she spent one semester each in Ireland and Sweden because she loves getting to know other cultures. In her free time Julia likes to read and to discuss novels with the two book clubs she is a member of. She also enjoys watching and discussing movies with friends.

Vincent Fix is half Berliner and half Swabian and grew up in the Black Forest and at the Müggelsee. Blossoming in these two surroundings, he grew a curiosity for the differences in people and how they communicate early on. He has four younger brothers, making him the family tutor and home Wikipedia. Consequently, he began studying English, philosophy, and political science in 2020 to become a full-on teacher so he could finally answer all their questions. In 2021/2022, he participated in Tübingen’s “Lehr:werkstatt” program and accompanied a fifth-grade English class for an entire year. The consecutive year, he completed an exchange year at Valparaiso University, Indiana, USA. When he is not thriving in his studies, Vincent enjoys singing in choirs or on his own, writing & reading, traveling around (often backpacked) and having a noble cup of tea while spending time with his amazing friends.
