Our curriculum mirrors the research-oriented profile of teacher education advanced by the Tübingen School of Education (TüSE). The TüSE is supported by the national campaign Quality Initiative Teacher Education (Qualitätsoffensive Lehrerbildung). Since 2016, 18 additional chairs for teacher education have been created at the University of Tübingen.
The English Department is committed to excellence in teaching and research with a dedicated and internationally acknowledged staff, including eleven professors and one full professor for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. We offer an attractive study environment with state-of-the-art university libraries, a Research and Writing Center especially for English students, a Language Learning Centre, interdisciplinary lectures in the Studium Generale, and student theater hosting frequent English-language productions.
We encourage our students to spend time in an English-speaking country. This is an invaluable opportunity for students to improve their language skills and to immerse themselves in a different culture and academic environment. The University of Tübingen offers exchange programmes with more than fifty partner universities in the United Kingdom, North America, Ireland, India and Australia.
