Transducers

Depending on sensor requirements there are diffrent types of transducers. The usual transducers for RIfS-Biosensors consist of flat glass slides of dimension 1,1 x 1,1 mm covered by a 10 nm thick, high refractive Nb2O5-layer. The glass substrate is also coated with a SiO2-layer of 300 nm (interference layer). For analysis of medical implants via RIfS, a glass substrate is coated with titandioxid to imitate the surface of a titan implant. The metallic oxide layer represents also the high refraction layer. It is also possible to use the conductive indium-tin-oxide transducer and plastic, e.g. TOPAS, for RIfS detection.
