Open Post-doctoral position within the research project “Hybrid Epistemic Practices: Generative Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Academic Assemblages in the Qualitative Social Sciences and Humanities”

At the University of Tübingen (Germany), Ludwig Uhland Institute for Historical and Cultural Anthropology, there is a
Post-doctoral position (m/f/d; TV-L E13, 100%) available to be filled at the earliest possible date (from January 1, 2024; at the latest by April 1, 2024).
The position is limited to up to 36 month (until December 31, 2026).

Main Tasks:
* Independent academic work in the interdisciplinary research project “Hybrid Epistemic Practices: Generative Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Academic Assemblages in the Qualitative Social Sciences and Humanities” with a focus on digital anthropology and science and technology studies. The post-doctoral researcher will conduct ethnographic research on hybrid epistemic practices in the context of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) at the University of Tübingen and collaborate on publications in this area with fellow project members. * Developing/establishing and maintaining a research network in the project’s research area 
* Contributing to securing third-party funding for research in generative AI within the qualitative social sciences and humanities.
* Regular participation in the Digital Anthropology Lab Tübingen: www.digitalanthropologylab.org

Requirements:
* very good PhD in cultural anthropology / European ethnology, or
* very good PhD in related subjects such as media studies, sociology, or cultural studies, provided the applicant has experience with ethnographic research
Please note: the PhD dissertation does not have to be completed at the time of application, but by the time of the project start date (by April 1, 2024, at the latest).
* very good English language skills
* very good German language skills, or
* Basic German language skills and willingness to participate in German language courses at the University of Tübingen
Advantageous are:
* Previous experience in the research field of digital anthropology and/or science and technology studies 
* Interdisciplinary study or research experience
