ICGSS Working Groups Program 2026
Welcoming our new working groups
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Global South Studies (ICGSS) is delighted to announce the seven research working groups selected for its 2026 Working Groups Program: Interdisciplinary Research Networks on and with the Global South.
This year's call generated a remarkable response. The applications received were of consistently high quality, and the selection process was genuinely difficult. While we deeply regret that we were unable to approve all submissions, the breadth and rigor of the proposals reflects the vitality of Global South research at Tübingen and beyond.
The ICGSS Working Groups Program is designed to promote research that is not merely about the Global South, but produced from and with researchers and institutions of the Global South. The selected groups reflect this commitment, connecting the University of Tübingen with partner institutions across Latin America, Africa, the Arab world, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
The 2026 working groups are:
- Hydrogeological Processes and Landslide Hazards in Peri-Urban Areas of the Global South
- Unequal Mobilities: Migration, Privilege, and Lifestyle
- Epistemic Inequalities: Critical Comparisons of Knowledge Production from the Arab-Speaking World and Europe
- Poiesis and Praxis of the Pluriverse Network
- Working Group "AI and Global Justice"
- Pediatric Nephrology and Clinical Epidemiology Research Network: Evidence-Based Care in Resource-Limited Settings
- Sex, Labour, and Religion: East Asian Minority Cultural Heritage in the Postcolonial Global South
Further information on each working group — including their research statements, members, and partner institutions — will be published on the ICGSS website in the coming weeks. We warmly congratulate all selected groups and look forward to an active and productive year of collaboration.
