The focus of this research project is the spatial and temporal spread of technological and stylistic characteristics of pottery in the north and middle Banat region (Serbia) in order to shed new light on material cultural variability between early (Starčevo-Körös), middle (Vinča) and late Neolithic/Chalcolithic (Vinča-Tisza-Tiszapolgar). A particular attention is given to the study of ceramic technological traditions at the important Neolithic/Chalcolithic (5300-4600 cal. BC.) site of Idjos.

The analysis carried out at the CCA-BW consists of microscopic techniques for assessing pottery's technological attributes. Archaeometric analysis will be carried out in order to establish the mineral composition of pottery samples, in order to identify their provenance and obtain information about the production process.
