Promotion of Junior Researchers

Dr. Selina Maier has been awarded a start-up grant by the Promotion of Junior Researchers Program at the University of Tuebingen. Congratulations on securing this support for your research on the interactions between selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERM) and oncogenic potassium channels, such as BK channels, in (murine and human) breast cancer cells!

This meeting will be particularly special, as it will be partly organized back-to-back with the Nitric Oxide Society Conference, taking place just three days earlier at the same location.

We are planning joint sessions with the Nitric Oxide Society to strengthen connections between both communities, promote new collaborations and facilitate scientific exchange, while preserving the traditions that have always defined the cGMP conference series.

We had the pleasure of co-organizing the 12^th international conference on cGMP in Kassel, which turned out to be a highly successful and enjoyable event. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring together colleagues from across the Nitric oxide, natriuretic peptide and PDE field to foster lively scientific exchange. Throughout the meeting, we heard a wide range of excellent talks and poster presentations that provided exciting new insights into cGMP and its patho-/physiological functions.

Beyond the scientific program, the conference provided a valuable chance to reconnect with many of our friends and long-time colleagues. Catching up during coffee breaks, poster sessions, and during the award dinner event made the meeting especially memorable. The Lukowski group is very grateful to all participants for contributing to such an enjoyable meeting.

Annual Meeting of the German Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology

The Experimental Pharmacology Group attended the 91^st Annual Meeting of the German Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology (DGPT). Five of our experienced doctoral students (from left to right in the photo: Jiaqi, David, Katharina, Lena and Selina) presented their contributions in the conference halls of the renowned Hannover Medical School. In addition to intensive discussions at the posters, many interesting presentations and also some “extra fun” during the evening program, David received a poster prize for his work on the topic “BK channel in brown adipocytes promotes diet-induced obesity”. Congratulations David!!!

11th International Conference on cGMP

Again, exciting, and largely unpublished basic science and clinical advances related to the cGMP pathway were presented and intensively discussed by >110 participants from all over the world in "lovely" Lübeck. The organizers (on the photo from left to the right: Robert Lukowski, Adrian Hobbs, Sheila Collins, Peter Sandner, and Michael Marletta ) are looking forward to seeing everyone again in 2026 at the “12^th International Conference on cGMP"!

Second call for fully funded PhD positions

March, 2020

The University of Tübingen, Germany, has an open call for fully funded PhD positions starting January 11, 2021. We are looking for a highly motivated graduate to join our project on "cGMP signaling in cardiac injury and repair". This project is embedded in the DFG funded Research Training Group cGMP: From Bedside to Bench (GRK 2381). Applications from graduates that hold a master’s degree in Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or Pharmaceutical Sciences as well as graduates of related and equivalent courses of studies are welcome. A strong interest in the molecular functions, dynamics and pathophysiological relevance of cGMP and its effectors and how they drive or prevent cardiac disease states is clearly preferred. Further information can be found on our GRK 2381 Website. The application deadline is July 15, 2020.

9th International Conference on cGMP

June, 2019

From June 14-16 the 9^th International Conference on cGMP, which remains one of the leading meetings in the field, took place in Mainz / Budenheim. Again, exciting and largely unpublished basic science and clinical advances related to the cGMP pathway were presented and intensively discussed by >150 participants from all over the world.
The organizers are already looking forward to seeing all experts - as well as newcomers - in the cGMP field again in 2021. At this time we will "celebrate" the 10^th anniversary of this sucessfull conference series on cGMP!

cGMP: From Bedside to Bench

The DFG supports a new Research Training Group (RTG) entitled “cGMP: From Bedside to Bench”. The objective of RTG 2381 is to translate clinical experience with cGMP drugs “back” from “bedside to bench” allowing for critical new insights into cGMP’s role in cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders. Our fellows will be co-mentored by a principal investigator in Boston who works on a related topic and they will visit the partner laboratory for a period of three months. FOR 2060 Meeting “New Developments in Signal Transduction & cGMP Research”

January 18^th - 20^th, 2015

The meeting is organized by the PhD students of the FOR 2060 and will take place on January 18-20, 2015 in a former monastery in Rottenburg am Neckar, Germany. The program includes talks of projects leaders of the research group and external speakers from academia and industry as well as short presentations and posters from PhD students and postdocs.

The new ICEPHA Graduate Program has been launched

Summer school: Tracking fast signalling processes in vivo

The working groups of Peter Ruth and Robert Lukowski joined the Summer School "Tracking fast signalling processes in vivo – mechanisms, targets and tools" at the Benediktinerinnen-Abtei auf Frauenchiemsee. This Summer School was supported by the Excellence Initiative of the University of Tubingen.

With the help of our higly comitted and qualified students and our partners at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University Hospital of Tübingen (Prof. Nürnberg), the Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry (Prof. Feil), and at the Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology (Prof. Schwab) we (almost) managed to satisfy their great thirst for knowledge.
