Transmission electron microscopy

Transmission electron microscopy allows for the highest possible resolution of all imaging techniques. The combination of alternating semi-thin sections (for light microscopy) and ultra-thin sections (for TEM) allows for the detailed description of the morphology and ultrastructure of structures of interest, such as insect photoreceptors, sensilla, glands and tarsal adhesion organs.
