Research Focus

Dr. Kitagawa’s research focuses on the interaction of animals and humans through zooarchaeology and the study of the organic tool industry. The current project evolves around osseous tools from the Aurignacian period of the Swabian Jura integrating experimental archaeology and other analytical methods. She has also worked broadly in different regions of Europe as a faunal analyst, including in the Mediterranean region where she currently collaborates with the local researchers.
