Biographie

Joscha Abels ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (PostDoc) und Dozent am Arbeitsbereich Politik und Wirtschaft / Politische Ökonomie. Seit 2024 leitet er das Forschungsprojekt “EUInfra - Infrastrukturen der Globalisierung. Strategien der EU im globalen Wettbewerb um wirtschaftliche Expansion und geoökonomische Kontrolle”, gefördert von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) unter Förderung 526359979.

Zuvor arbeitete Joscha Abels im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts “Infrastructures and Global Ordering (IGLO) - Linking Infrastructural Transformation to Changes in Global Relations and the Prospects of Sustainable Development”, gefördert durch die Exzellenzstrategie des Bundes und der Länder.

Joscha Abels hat in Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Tübingen promoviert (summa cum laude). Zuvor studierte er Politikwissenschaft, Volkswirtschaftslehre und Internationale Beziehungen an der Universität Mannheim, der Universität Oslo und der Universität Tübingen.

Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind der globale geoökonomische Wettbewerb und die politische Ökonomie der Europäischen Union. Seine jüngsten Arbeiten sind in den Bereichen Infrastruktur, Technologie und Geoökonomie angesiedelt, mit einem besonderen Schwerpunkt auf der globalen Position der EU. Er unterrichtet Kurse über Internationale Beziehungen, Internationale Politische Ökonomie und Forschungsmethoden.

Joscha Abels hat Artikel in Journals wie European Journal of International Relations, Journal of Common Market Studies, Comparative European Politics und Competition & Change veröffentlicht. Er ist der Autor des Buches "The Politics of the Eurogroup. Governing Crisis and Conflict in the European Union" (Routledge, 2023).

Joscha Abels ist ehemaliger Redakteur der Zeitschrift für Internationale Beziehungen (zib).

Joscha Abels ist Mitglied des Forschungskollektivs Second Cold War Observatory.
