Englisches Seminar

Englisch Department HelpDesk - Brechtbau, Room 555

Students can come to the HelpDesk of the English / American Studies department to discuss any questions concerning their studies. Typical issues would be the selection of courses, the exam regulations (Prüfungsordnung), the precise requirements for different modules, and the reading list for the Advanced Modules in the BA EAS and BEd. To discuss these or other questions, please come see us during our helpdesk hours (no appointment required) or contact us by e-mail. Our team members are all students themselves and speak German and English fluently.

Who We Are

Necmiye Görmüs - B.A. English and American Studies

Hiii I’m Necmiye (IPA /nedʒmije/).  I’m studying English and American Studies and International Literatures. As you can probably tell I love reading a lot and discovering new authors, new cultures and worlds through the world of books is one of my favourite things to do. I spend most of my free time playing with my cat, knitting, learning new languages, photography and visiting bookstores. If you have any questions I’m always there to help and figure out a solution so don’t shy away.

Julia Mijic - M.A. English Linguistics

Hi! My name is Julia Mijic, and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in English Linguistics. I’m fascinated by how languages work, with a particular interest in theoretical semantics, syntax, and their interfaces. I also enjoy doing semantic fieldwork and have conducted experiments on Croatian, Italian, and African American English. I joined the HelpDesk in September 2024, and I’m happy to support you – whether it’s helping you find the right resources, answering questions about the MA programme, term papers, exams, or guiding you to the right contact person. Whatever comes up, we will figure it out together – so feel free to reach out anytime!

Emre Ulus - B.Ed. English and History

Hello, I am Emre Ulus. I was born and raised in Stuttgart, where I developed a keen interest in cultures, languages, and international relations. My pursuit of these interests led me to Tübingen, where I enrolled in the B.Ed. English and History. I love the potential role of a teacher and I am looking forward to shaping and influencing the brains of my future students. To do so I will first pursue a master’s  degree. I joined the HelpDesk in April 2023. In my free time, I like learning new languages and going for walks in nature.
