A warm welcome to Modern German Literature / Literature and Media Education
In its research and teaching, the Chair focuses on German literature and media education, incorporating relevant literary, cultural and media theories as well as empirical research into reading, writing and teaching.
We are interested in the intersections of aesthetics and education in post-digital cultures, currently with a particular focus on the theory and empirical study of critical literacy and creativitiy in the context of AI. Furthermore, we engage with graphic and digital literature, as well as contemporary cultures of memory, through an interweaving of theoretical and praxeological approaches. Our intensive interdisciplinary exchange is reflected, among other things, in research on the normativity and relativity of subject-specific education in democratic societies.
Our aim is to provide academic support for the teaching of language, literature and aesthetics, and to prepare (prospective) teachers for German language teaching of the future.
