Academic Profile

I am Antonia Schnell and since November 2025, I am a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the LUI, where I also completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. During my studies, I focused intensively on museum and collection topics and researched participatory practices in museums in my master’s thesis. In 2023, I began a doctoral traineeship, a combination of museum traineeship and university doctorate, on „Nuclear Cultural Heritage“ in the structural network „Cross-Linking Cultural Knowledge: Cooperative Structures in Cultural Anthropology Research, Teaching and Knowledge Transfer“. After two years of working on the topic in the museum and collaborating on the POP-UP-MUSEUM KERNgeschichten, my focus is now on my dissertation. For this, I am researching the (material) everyday life of a social transformation process at a former nuclear power plant site. My project lies at the intersection of nuclear cultural heritage, anthropology of energy, and the energy transition in rural areas.
