Online Catalog
The entire collection of the Modern History Library is available online and can be searched via the “red catalog” of the main university library.

Search new acquisitions online
You can easily browse through the new acquisitions of the Modern History Library online via the webpage “Neuerwerbungen - ONLINE”. Select “Neuere Geschichte” from the drop-down menu and the desired time period. The results are listed on the next page, which you can navigate as usual.
Library Access
The library is located on the second floor of the Hegelbau. The main entrance of the Hegelbau is outfitted with a ramp. The elevator can only be used without a key above the 2nd floor. A key can be obtained if needed from the desk at the library of the Philology Department (Hegelbau ground floor, left wing).
Coats and bags are not permitted in the library. Lockers are available in the basement of the Hegelbau (you must bring your own lock).
Weekend Loans
As the library is a reference library, you may only check-out books over the weekend or during holidays with a valid student I.D. (no more than 5 books at a time).
Check-out: Friday 9am - 12pm
Returns: Monday 9am - 12pm
Please note: Books can be checked-out in the office of the library of the Seminar for Contemporary History, Room 308 / 3rd floor.
